This movie begins with its main character, Louisa Clark, losing her job at a cafe. At the same time her family is struggling with money. Finding a job in the small town, where she lives is pretty hard. Therefore she takes the best available job in her town: a care worker for a quadrilegic man named Will Traynor....

Violet Markey and Theodore Finch are both high school seniors. Violet is popular while Theodore is the school freak. After a terrible accident where a family member dies these two finally meet. A strange coincidence. They almost throw themselves out of a window at the exact time. Wanting to end it all, but they help eachother and stay together.
